Health Care

As a growing health care center, Midlothian offers great medical care at a convenient location.

Baylor Medical Center
Ellis County is projected to grow by almost 20 percent in the next few years. To meet the future health needs of Ellis and the surrounding counties, Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie purchased 83 acres at the northwest corner of Interstate 35E and Highway 287 and has plans for future expansion to that site.

Baylor Waxahachie is aggressive in expanding its service lines to meet the needs of the growing community. In 2008 -

  • Baylor opened the Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie Weight Management and Surgical Weight Loss Center offering weight loss programs as well as bariatric surgeries (gastric bypass, lap band and gastric sleeve).
  • Baylor opened the Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie Sleep Center and offers advanced monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
  • Oncologists on the medical staff at Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie doubled their coverage to meet growing needs.
  • The Imaging and Diagnostics Center at Red Oak continues to expand coverage and technology and now offers Breast MRI.
  • Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie converted over completely to Digital Mammography, as well as adding Sterotactic Breast Biopsy.

BaylorWorx Midlothian offers rehab and fitness services. The BaylorWorx physical and occupational therapy programs treat people with musculoskeletal or orthopeadic conditions, as well as people who have had strokes or other neurological disorders. The cardiac rehab program helps people with heart disease work toward recovery. The center also offers fitness memberships that include elliptical exercisers, treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight-training machines.

The hospital is connected with Baylor Health Care System's Picture Archival and Communications System. This system replaces film-based x-rays with computerized digital x-rays. Doctors can view the digital x-rays online, saving the time of transcribing and faxing a report. It's also easy for doctors to get a second opinion, since the files can easily be emailed to another doctor.

Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie offers very good care close to home. For more information or a physician referral, call (800) 4BAYLOR or visit www.BaylorHealth.com.
